Also, I have just finished this project, for the The Cheltenham Illustration Awards. It was based on Amulets, taken from a museum in Oxford. I chose to pick a fish shaped amulet also known as 'Nekhau', which in Egypt was used to protect the wearer from drowning. It was worn by mainly children and women, strung on a lock of hair.

An Introduction to Geri...
This is Geri, my house rabbit. She is a Black Otter Netherland Dwarf. I have had her since August and over the time she has become unimaginably tame! She arrived in a cardboard box as timid as anything but now, eight months on, she lays on the sofa, sits under a blanket and grooms my clothes. She often circles my feet, tripping me up and attempts to burrow through my bedroom door.
She has become my live in inspiration giving me plenty of opportunities to draw an animal from life.
This is the first drawing I have done of her, but I'm sure there will be plenty more to come. I might even start a drawing diary dedicated just to her and what she get's up to!

The Threatened Loris
The loris is the planets only poisonous primate, with a bite dangerous enough to kill someone. Until recently they were a fairly unknown creature, until a video on YouTube captured the attention of thousands of exotic pet lovers.
As a result, lorises are at the mercy of hunters who trap them and rip out their venomous teeth using wire cutters. These creatures are then sold on animal markets, trapped in boxes or cages, paraded openly on the streets, despite the trade of them being very illegal.
Unfortunately the price for a Loris has risen considerably and people are making good money for the capture and sale of them.
They are one of the 25 most endangered primates in the world and it doesn't appear to be getting any better with the illegal trade of these unique creatures.
This sad reality prompted the illustration
above of a Loris where it should be, in the forest.

Bird Crazy!
I found an old illustrated guide to Birds of Britain and Europe in a charity shop and ended up doing lots of bird illustration as you can probably see! Experimenting in the print room I created a Collograph of a feather which came out in a way that was almost photo realistic, every delicate part of the feather was printed onto the paper. I also produced some coloured pencil drawings which are now adorning lots of greetings cards for friends and family!
